• The " lateral border " presents a sharp margin, the obturator crest, which forms part of the circumference of the obturator foramen and affords attachment to the obturator membrane.
• The fibers springing from the pubic arch extend on to the inner surface of the bone, where they obtain a narrow origin between the margin of the foramen and the attachment of the obturator membrane.
• The "'anterior branch of the obturator artery "'is a small artery in the thigh and runs forward on the outer surface of the obturator membrane and then curves downward along the anterior margin of the obturator foramen.
• It also arises from the pelvic surface of the obturator membrane except in the posterior part, from the tendinous arch which completes the canal for the passage of the obturator vessels and nerve, and to a slight extent from the obturator fascia, which covers the muscle.
• :: " Within the pelvis ", the " anterolateral surface " of the muscle is in relation with the obturator membrane and inner surface of the lateral wall of the pelvis; its " pelvic surface ", with the obturator fascia, and the origin of the Levator ani, and with the sheath which surrounds the internal pudendal vessels and pudendal nerve ( p . 603 ).
